bucking engine

engine starting bucking really bad (2011 HHR .2.2) last may repair shop replaced the camshaft position solenoid/sensors....check engine light never came on.....now today same thing happened....took it back and was told unless the check engine light is on they can't do anything but yet they fixed it before without the check engine light on....they told me to bring it back when the light comes on....where do i go from here????

Have the codes pulled anyway, there may be pending codes that could help diagnose.

Did they replace the sensors or the solenoids? Not the same thing

They were throwing your money at it!

However, without a CEL and codes remote diagnosis is a lost cause. Maybe spark plugs.

Welcome to the site.
Can you stop by any parts palace like AZ or OR , and have them read out the pending codes
post them up here, it could be a timing chain issue, like a broken front guide.

sparks plugs were replaced last Sept....have only driven the car a little over 2,000 miles.....

Good question, AC Delco 41-103 Iridium plugs, the engine is designed around those specific plugs.
if your mechanic tried to gap them, the electrode whisker could be damaged.
