A/C Delete
 

I searched and couldn't find anything on this.

I was wondering if anyone had every done an A/C Delete on our cars. Mine went out a few months ago, and, seeing as I hardly ever use it, I don't really need it. If it isn't that hard, I kinda just want to get rid of it. If there is anyone who has deleted their's, I'd like to know just how hard it is and what I might be getting myself into.

If your compressor wheel is not locked up then just don't fix it. If you want to remove the majority of the AC system for weight savings then you are going to need a shorter serpentine belt. Other parts include the condenser in front of the radiator and the evaporator inside the HVAC box inside the dash and the plumbing parts to circulate between the three. But honestly it would less than 50lbs of weight savings for a decent amount of work involved. Just removing the compressor would be somewhat easy as long as you can find a correct sized smaller belt but the benefit will be minimal unless the compressor wheel is locked up.

Why not just leave it as is for now and then if you g to sell the car down the road you can get it working again to help it sell?

Ah well, it was a thought, but it sounds like it's just more hassle than it's worth. Thanks for the info guys.

Plus, if you use your defroster you are using the A/C without knowing it.

Ah, crap. I forgot about that. And the recirc too...
