It should blow cold for a several minutes after shutting off the AC, that's normal. Does the yellow light go off when you push the button?

A/C will run if recirculate is selected. Doesn't matter what the lights are doing, as long as it is switched to recirculate or defrost the compressor will be running.

So, if I turn my car to "recirculate" every time I go somewhere, it's like I'm always running the air conditioning then?

Oh, that sucks. I thought by running it on recirculate (which is actually really cold) instead of air conditioning, I was saving gas. Oh well, I guess I need air conditioning either way then.

Just don't run it on recirculate, let it draw in outside air, then you can turn the compressor off, and only use outside air to vent, at least if its cool enough outside to do so.
