A/C Temp Gauge STILL

Ok , I have read all the old threads about the temp gauge and A/C quiting. AND Have had the thermostat replaced by dealer 5-6 times!!! Still no fix any ideas??? By unpluging the computer it will start working but quits again later same as when they replace the thermostat.

Going to guess that you're getting a CEL since you state unplugging the computer will reset it. What is the CEL code number ?

Fwiw. If the thermostat isn't the problem, it could be the temp. sending unit. Or it could be something else. Without the code number to now what problem code you're chasing down, it's hard to make a blind guess.

Why not try going to the dealer and telling them the A/C won't run and have them fix it, rather than telling them to replace the T-stat?

They will do what you tell them to, not what you think you mean.

Hey Grandpa22,

We definitely understand this situation has been both time consuming and frustrating, so we sincerely apologize. We're unable to diagnose your vehicle online, but if you want to PM us your VIN, we'll gladly do some additional research on our end to see what we can find.

Thanks,
Amber N.

The OP, Grandpa came back the next day. He didn't bother to do a follow up post after getting some suggestions from our good members.

Seeing more and more of that. People posting up problems and questions and looking for help. Then they don't bother to do an update or acknowledge the help and advice that is given.

Makes it really hard for me to waste my time and know how if it's just falling on unappreciative deaf ears.

Now now George, I know how you feel, but perhaps he is not skilled in HHR-ese or auto mechanics so he didn't stop back, or maybe he just wants to believe what he wants to believe!!

Apparently he's not here everyday like some of you. Give him some time....that was his first post in almost 4 years.

The point isn't that though. If it's a persisting problem and he really truly needed help on it, he would have returned already for follow up. What George is saying is that it's hard to take the time to really search and help people when a good portion of them never return for follow up or continuing help.

I disagree. Though my job allows me much time to be on the Net and search and read the news, so I don't mind helping at all.

Oh I don't mind helping, just don't like being left hanging with no confirmation any of or suggestions fixed the problem!

A Client Vice President at work gave me a very good tip the other day.

Control what you can control, and don't worry about the rest.
