Never heard of it a second time! But, try eBay or RockAuto.com for a new downpipe (includes CATALYTIC converter). What about the "Emissions Equipment" warranty, should reset after new equipment installed? I would be thinking motor mount problems, or leaded/contaminated gas.

I have not read about this happening. Did you happen to seek more information from the technician as to what would cause this to happen?

they did not cover under warranty said 8-80000 on it, they could find no other problems that would cause it to fail. they just blow it off and say it just happens some times this is such BS on the 3rd down pipe with cat on it. i dont drive off road and drive hwy mostly.
if it gos out again in another 40000 miles im going to pull my hair out they charged me 700.00 bucks for the down pipe with catolitic converter. i love my chevys and have had many never hadproblems on the other ones till over 100000 miles and was minor stuff

X 2 on checking the motor mounts..

Too much movement can be cracking the down pipes..
