Camshaft VVT Solenoid Connector Retaining Clip

I know there is an extensive tutorial by Whopper on how to replace these solenoids. Question: Has anyone found a place to buy the gray plastic retaining clip on the connector? I broke one of mine during the repair, and haven't been able to find a replacement.

You have a 2006.
If it's a 2.4L engine look at this:

Most likely fits the 2.2L also
Note: Always use the correct size "heat shrink" butt connectors. The wires will use the red colored ones.

He's actually talking about the VVT Solenoids - but he didn't say which one.

The connector for the INTAKE one is

(the solenoid apparently uses pigtail connector #1735) - but it's out of stock anyways.

The Exhaust one uses pigtail connector #981 according to the autozone info regarding the solenoids, but it shows as not being compatible with the HHR:

Pretty sure he just wants the clip...

which isn't going to be available without it being attached to the plug.

Yup that be correct. Others have broken the clip (even though there were some great instructions include in the tutorial) but they managed to get by without the clip. They are detailed somewhere in that long tutorial I think.

Thanks all. Yes... be careful pushing the little locker tab back to release. I managed to crack one of mine at the top. The main connector snaps in pretty solidly, so I'm not overly concerned that it would come loose without the retainer clip in place. But I might see if I can pick one up at a salvage yard.

Welcome to the site, this thread from Whopper

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...13-14-a-28779/

You might find clips in your local salvage yard all years 2.4l have VVT as does the 2.0 and the 2008 through 2011 2.2

The Ecotec engines in Saab , Pontiac, Saturn and Cobalts have the same clips. I’m guilty of breaking one in the BlackSwan.

the aftermarket pigtails are crazy money just to get a clip
