Yep it's "under the hood" LOL

CEL is off today. It was on for at least 150 miles on my way home. I think I will change it out when the insulators arrive. It does sound like an electrical problem

UPDATE

I realize it's been awhile since I opened this thread. The CEL stayed off so I decided to wait it out. Of course also it was cold out and I didn't have a warm place to work. Then I had a knee replacement and physically couldn't do it. When it got warmer out the CEL started doing it's thing again. Coming on for a few hours or a day and then going off. Over the last week or so however, I did notice the gas mileage was lower but no other symptoms. It was time to change the solenoid. The air box was much easier to take off this time than before. However, something in it rattled. Like a lot. I just thought oh no another problem. I discovered when changing the air filter that the rattle was a bunch of acorns. Mice or chipmunks must have gotten in there and had a feast. At least they didn't chew through the filter.

The two back insulators were still good so I didn't change them. Both the old and the new had the same number on them 2309539100 so I knew I had ordered the correct part for that one GM # 19177871. The front insulator was missing though so I couldn't compare old to new. I had ordered GM # 12563914 and it worked fine. I will also post this in the thread I referenced above.

When taking out the solenoid I tried to use the method in the How To thread but ended up breaking the black clip on the bottom. I have looked for a replacement part number but haven't found it yet. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd be thankful. When putting it back together the connection did make a nice "suction" sound so it seems like there is a tight connection there right now.

For now that is fixed. At least I hope so!

I read all64 pages of the How To Thread to see if I could find the name of that connector. Lo and behold there it was! I broke the black (not gray) oh-crap,-I-broke-it-clip. But part number is more elusive

Did you try GoOgle?
U-pick junkyard. Any 2.4 or many 2.2 with VVT Ecotec cars. HHR, Cobalt, etc.
NAPA has a large selection of pigtails, many in stock. They can get anything is a day or 2.

Both of my valve clips broke off.
That was over a year ago.
I just stuck the connector back on and so far no issues.
I did go to a local auto recycling facility and get bith harness ends in case the broken ones come lose.
They are still in the shed

Thanks donbrew!
I research before I ask a question here since most have been asked before. That's why I read all 64 pages of the How To thread by whopper. LOL Anyway google can be your friend or your enemy and this time it showed me many parts that I couldn't be sure which one I actually needed. The intake part seems to run about $50 with wires but I would like to only replace the connector itself. I also need the air intake hose and I wouldn't mind getting a roof rack so I may take a run to the you pick salvage yard when I get a chance

Do you own a core crimping tool and appropriate terminal pins? You need them for just the connector. just cutting the wires and splicing is much easier

New replacement harness connectors are available, just not cheap! A parts yard would be my choice
