Changed transmission

So the transmission on our 2006 Chevy 2.4 LT went kaput after approx 196,000 miles. Bought a used transmission and and friend and I dropped the bad one and put the new one in. All bolts and screws were accounted for and put back in the spots, and all hoses and connections were put back in their places also. We reconnected the battery....and the car wont start. It wont even begin to turn over. Interior lights come on, we tested that the starter is getting a power draw. Is there anything I need to reset or recheck? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm heading over right now to take another look at the car, I'll definitely check these out and let you know. Thanks.

Wouldn't some Tech II programming be necessary there?

That transmission may need to be programmed to your vehicle with a Tech II. A Tech II is basically a diagnostic interface that GM uses to communicate/reprogram the various systems on these vehicles. It's too expensive a 'toy' for home use or I'd have one in my garage.

It seems that every time we stick the key in the ignition and push it to the crank position, all the power to the car seems to die. When we stop cranking, the lights and radio come back on.

Have you tried checking the shift linkage with someone in the car? Sounds like the car isn't getting into neutral.

Yes, we've checked the shift linkage. I'm stumped as to where to go forward where now.
