So I let someone fix my clutch master cylinder (which it still won't go into gear) and now my car is saying check charging system. Also when I tried to jump start my car before it said that it started smoking from what looks like the starter area. I'm completely stumped on what to do. Any advice wld be awesome! Of course the person responsible says to bring it back to him but that's not happening because he's obviously just trying to milk me for money.

You are asking for and rejecting advice in the same sentence. The guy that messed with the clutch obviously did something to the fuse box; he should fix it for free. The other option is find somebody else to pay to fix it.

Let me try to make some sense of this.

You had service performed, clutch master cylinder replacement. Which is on the firewall.

At some time after the car was returned to you, the car wouldn't start, so you tried to jump start it. This caused smoking from an area that you think the starter is located.

After that, a message appeared on the dashboard, "check charging system".

Can you take some pictures, showing the area of the smoke, as well as where you connected the jumper cables?

I’m thinking the wires were mixed up after the clutch job, if the transmission was removed for the throw out bearing

You need to remove the fuse box to get to the master cylinder, along with a lot of other wires. Not even mentioning the clutch and brake position sensors.

My thoughts precisely, whilst replacing parts , something got mixed up, a forgotten ground wire perhaps?

???
I only see a clutch master cylinder being replaced in post #1. Nothing about a clutch job or throw out bearing. Transmission wouldn't have been out for just the master cylinder.

Ok, then just the fuse box under the hood was moved to get to the clutch master cylinder, a tight spot, wires could be disconnected by accident.

He only replaced the clutch master cylinder! My car has not started since he had it. I towed it home becuz he had it for almost a month for a job that only takes maybe an hour. I shld have done it myself I guess..lol I'm going to take the fuse box off as if I'm replacing the cylinder myself and check wires. I thought it might have been something like that but I wanted to get feedback from y'all first. I will let u know how it goes
