Unhappy Chev 2007 HHR: Coolent Leak Help

So I posted a video below of a leak, would like to properly diagnose it as I took my cell phone and taped it to a stick to look underneath the car to see if I can find the leak. Good news as the video shows I found the leak but could not decipher where the leak is exactly comming from. I believe its the water pump for the coolant chamber but unsure if this is indeed the case or something else. I was hoping to find out if I can confirm its the "water pump" or rather the coolant pump since the HHR been running on DEX coolant and not water.

Please confirm via the image what you may think it is and also if its an expensive or complicated procedure. Thanks you.

to the forums!

Water pump or coolant pump? There's only 1 pump, for the water/coolant mixture.

Anyway, I don't have an app that will open that file. You can host it on YouTube and post a link here.

I can see the video but it’s only a couple seconds. Hard to tell where the camera is pointed.
But, it is leaking pretty good. Might be the water pump or the o- ring at the crossover pipe.

Yeah, they called the part which I ordered the water pump, which confused me a bit.

I will try to get a better video and post a link to youtube tomorrow, which hopefully will tell where its pointing and the overall location underneath the hhr. Attachments to post has to be under 25min, so my apologies if its short.

What I did: I tried to get a quote for it and the cheapest to install a water pump was 500 dollars to 800, if I bought a water pump slightly cheaper. With only 4 days before an important appointment I thought maybe a temp solution so I used K-Seal (x2) and to my surprised it stopped the leak. I burped the coolant after topping it off a bit. As Sean in vid below, what I noticed was a ver small leak coming from the coolant tube as seen in the picture below, more like droplets really, but they add up.

new issue: in the picture is looks like the tube is not correctly situated onto the coolant cap (sorry for the incorrect word usage) I think it should be pushed in more (see picture). Is my assumption correct and how would this be done as the tube isn’t all that long not much room? Thank you everyone for helping me.

Expand the hose clamp and push the rad cap and pipe towards the engine until that gap is gone.

thank you @Oldblue and everyone, I will try to do that and give everyone an update.

UPDATE: that actually was harder to do co side ring not a lot of room when the clips pointing away from me, but with some help was able to do it. Solved a leak but their a slight leak on the coolant pump. Maybe a little more K-Seal may help, not sure if that’s advisable as I already used two?

For now the car actually does not over heat anymore, so the HRR 2007 is still alive and drivable. Not a permanent solution but might hold plunking enough for a new car in 3 months or so.

thanks again to all. Much appreciative, sure beats spending 800 dollars for a new pump installation.

Those plastic filler necks have been known to crack and crumble. There are metal ones available aftermarket
