Question Chevy 2006 HHR Radio

My radio in my HHR only works on hot days. This is the basic factory radio.
I am only getting a faint sound out of the passenger side speaker. On hot summer day the radio would work fine. Now it is getting closer to winter with no radio. The radio itself seems to work fine except for little or no sound. My headlight buzzer, and door chime is not working also. What is the fix ??

sounds like its time to replace the radio. the other sounds your missing is also played from the radio sound system. I have seen factory radios on ebay fairly cheap.

Yeah, I looked at the service manuals and it seems the only solution is to replace the radio. Like Lucky said, you can find them at very reasonable prices on the "bay" or on the net at radio supply houses. As with most electronics these days the radios are basically "fire and forget" to borrow a military term....cheaper to chuck than diagnose.

Don't forget about theftlock! A new radio will have to be matched with your car at the dealer!
From Owners manual:

Theft-Deterrent Feature
THEFTLOCK® is designed to discourage theft of your
vehicle’s radio. The feature works automatically by
learning a portion of the Vehicle Identification Number
(VIN). If the radio is moved to a different vehicle, it
will not operate and LOCK or LOCKED will appear on
the display.
With THEFTLOCK® activated, the radio will not operate
if stolen.

I bought one on ebay and it worked great. You will need to have it programmed to your vehicle though.

I have an "06" stock radio, it was pulled out within three hours of ownership. Todd (Uma)
