Code P0010 solved somewhat

I had run with this code that correspond to the camshaft selonoides, and since I have to order both parts from amazon, in the meantime I decided to clean the one installed just for "fun"

After I clean them up and reset the CEL, it stayed off for a while, then came back up for a day and then off again. I am guessing there are particles there still floating around but I wonder if it's the selonoides themselves that are defective.

Right now the CEL is off, and the parts will arrive next week, so my question is does it worth taking the time to replace them even if the CEL light is not active atm?

Yes. The code and error will be intermittent until you replace them. If they totally fail due to an internal electrical fault, the code will be permanent until they are replaced.

Make sure you do an oil/filter change at the same time to make sure you have clean oil.

Thanks for your reply Whopper, I did oil & filter change right after I got the car, so right now is 97% per the screen. I will change them next week then, thanks again!

In case you missed it when you put "P0010" into the search box, here is whoppers how-to and a lengthy discussion.

More proof cleaning and reusing the old solenoids just doesn't work!

I had this as a pending code the second night of owning the car, then the light just went away. Came back nearly a year later and kept coming on and off more and more frequently until I replaced the Actuators. REPLACE EM OR FEEL THE WRATH OF THE BUCKING BRONCO

Whopper,

Guess your reply confirms your "still following" the same Oil Change schedule you have honored all along.

Just to let you know you are Not Alone.......

I religiously change with Mobil product and a New AC filter every 3-4000 miles depending on how my driving habits where between each change.
If my HHR could talk I am sure it would say ... I Love You !!

I have never had to add a drop of oil in between on any of my HHR's.

Don't let them get to you on this issue ... Although I have to laugh each time they try.

LOL - I just wish I could get my hands clean - they are perpetually oil soaked. :)
