code P0365

code P0365
I have read a lot of threads on the network about this code and ways to diagnose.
I checked the connector connected to sensor wires looked okay to me.
I did look at them without my glasses so I will put them on and double check.
After that I chose to replace the sensor. still is throwing this same code so I switched the sensor with one I new was bad.
then the car showed codes P0365 and P0366 (performance) so I put the new one back in, then its only shows code P0365
It sounds crazy to me, any advice would be greatly appreciated .
I did not use scan tool to relearn sensor would that keep the P0365 code on.

Year and engine would be helpful. There is no relearn, it is a Hall Effect sensor it just counts pulses.
What happened just before the code popped up? Disconnecting the ECM?
To start with; what are you calling "the sensor"? The sensor on the back side of the head?
The P0365 refers to the Exhaust cam position sensor CIRCUIT. Specifically an Open or shorted circuit, that could mean the internal wire broke (doubtful) or one of the 3 wires to it is broken somewhere, maybe the connector pin got pushed out on the ECM
My first suspect would be a wire laying on the exhaust or some other sharp or hot surface.

2008 2.4 I replaced the sensor for the exhaust. Car shut off while stopped. It started right back up the first time code popped up. I thought when you reset the codes or disconnected the battery it reset the ecm. I have no ide that's why I am on the network asking. So there is a another connector that I should be checking .

P0365 as stated in this
https://www.obd-codes.com/p0365
indicates an electrical problem follow the suggested possible solutions, if you replaced the part, then didn’t clear the code, you need to simply disconnect the negative terminal at the battery for a minimum 30 minutes to clear and reset the BCM and ECM.
Let us know if the code comes back in. It might be a loose ground wire.

P0365 is a type B code, that means that the light should go off after 1 successful driving cycle. The history code will stay for longer than that, probably around 100 starts, but no light.

Before original code car just stopped running but started right back up. I have cleared the code with code reader as well disconnecting neg battery terminal code still comes back on. I will take a closer look at the wires as well the other connectors
