Coolant recovery tank replacement
Hello. I have a 2008 Chevy HHR LT 2.2 liter. I noticed the other day I have a crack in the bottom of my coolant recovery tank. Can anyone please tell me the process to take that out and put a new one in? Thank you.

Thank you for your answer. Can you tell me exactly where the bolt is I need to remove?

From the black cap follow the neck down and that bolt is off to the side of the neck

Thank you very much.

I also just now installed a replacement coolant recovery tank!
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...8a3de5359c.jpg I also picked up this part at the junkyard over the weekend. I filled it with water to make sure there was no damage before I purchased it. Getting the old one out wasn't as easy as removing one bolt. I had to remove the hose from the radiator as well to make room for it to come out. :cooldance: |
Cool Beans !!! I marked the level on my tank about 2 inches higher than factory. Their full line is too hard to see. I used a Sharpie. And easy to spot.
It doesn't overflow with A/C is off, so it is fine. Been running it this way for a decade at least. |
The coolant itself is rather hard to see.
Best way I have found it just to use the light on my phone and hold it on the other side of the tank, shows up clear as can be. |
