Are all of the door switches working? Are the headlights set to "auto"? Is the CheckEngineLight on? Is the hood securely latched? Is remote start turned on? Have you read the Owner Manual? There's a link in my sig.

There is an extended warranty on the power steering if the warning is displayed.
The car is trying to tell you that something needs to be turned off or closed. The hood has a switch in the latch that sends a signal for "closed" if you have AP3 on the label on the glove box door.
The hatch switch also sends an "open" signal.
Each door has a light switch, they send an "open" signal, they sometimes get sticky.

So bailbud, with key in the ignition, open driver door. Hear the chimes. When you take the key out, do the chimes get faster?

Don, none of these things cause a chime on my HHR. I get chimes if I leave the key in and open the driver door. No other door, hatch, or hood causes a chime. If I turn the headlights "on" and remove the key, I get a faster chime.
