After finally fixing pretty much everything that kept my HHR from passing the inspection (very nitpicking German inspection) , they denied it because the dashboard TPMS flasher "reveals" an error. That's just because the sensors are messed up (I never really cared, being old-school, checking things like this regularily manually).The easiest way would be to delete the error code. While I was able to delete other error codes, my OBD just doesn't let me do this. Any help/useful information? Thanks ahead and greetings from Southern-Bavaria.

What car is this? A 2008 HHR would need to have the RCDLR firmware upgraded. Is it not possible to just replace the TPM modules in the tires? The TPMS was installed as "mandated safety equipment" that is why in failed inspection.
What are you calling a "TPMS flasher"? Does it flash for about a minute then go solid until the next start? Or is it just on solid?
When you display the tire pressures do you se ----?

 

If it is the 2009 , sensors are cheap on EBay here , but I don’t know about in Germany. It’s easy to break the tire bead and change the sensor. Then follow the directions in the owners manual ( free online manuals in Donbrew’s signature)

If it’s the 2008 with the RCDLR problem, that will require a reflash and new possibly sensors

 

The profile says both model 2008 and year 2009. Some countries in Europe give the car the year it was first titled in that country; so it is possible that a 2007 imported in 2009 could be a 2009 as far as the owner knows. I was not watching the member type so I don't know what year the car is.
Looking at the 10th digit of the VIN tells the model year. 2008 would be 8, 2009 would be 9, 2010 would be A, 2011 would be B.

 

Thanks for the info. It is solid. I don't want to put in new tpms because they were one of the first things that acted up and I never missed them. I just need to get rid of the signal, or - in better words - the status signal. My guess is, that even if I replace the tpms with regular valves, it would still show up as an error in the dashboard?? It is a 2009.

 

Regular valves would not resolve the problem.
The sensors battery only last for 7 to 10 years. There is no other way of turning off the warning light other than replacing the sensors.

 

Doesn't "mandated safety equipment" mean something? If a head light goes out, would you just remove it?
The TPMS light is telling you that the TPM sensors in the wheels are not working. Probably because the batteries have died. Why would deleting them turn it off? I don't get the logic.
The light solidly on means that one or more of the TPM sensors is sending a "low pressure" signal. I am guessing that the pressure readout on the dash is - - - - instead of the pressures.
You did not answer "what model year" that is very important. A 2008 that has had the battery disconnected for more than 5-10 minutes needs to have the RCDLR, the module that receives the TPMS signal, firmware updated.

 

Donbrew, post #5 he stated it’s a 2009.
