We’re not telling you what to do just suggesting.

Timing chains scare me too!

You guys are the most amazing resource for car repair advice I've found for working on my HHR. No matter what other resource I look at, my final place to check is here. I can relate to DWBlair here because I recently went down an HHR repair rabbit-hole that led to looking at replacing the timing chain (by 150k). I started with researching a small coolant leak, and it led to, 'consider replacing the timing chain since you're around 150k.' I've been looking into it for the past week and it seems like a beast of a procedure compared to what seem like smaller jobs I've done... I have the feeling though, that once you get to it it's not all that hard if you guys say it ain't and seems like you're always here to back everyone up, which makes you guys... like the Avengers of HHR Universe. However, I also have a spare car I can get ahold of in an emergency if something like this happened to me and I need time to figure out how to do a more complex repair. Anyway, I'm in Minnesota and just saying that things are what the news shows lately, it's eerie, lots of people are deeply affected, kind of like how it felt during COVID, but also not like COVID. Makes me wish we all had nothing bigger to do or worry about but our HHR's.

We try to help and advise how to keep these trucklets safe and sound, if you’re not mechanically inclined, or not in a position to fix it yourself or have friends or relatives who are, then you can always make the decision to pay for a repair or park your HHR .
mine is 15 years old in May, 2026. Still runs and drives, has 275,000 miles on it , I’ve done all the work myself except vacuum and refill the Freon in the AC system. I’m here to share my experience with others, not tell them what to do, but tell them how to do!
