Not on mine, I leave the house at 5 every morning for work and use my highbeams a lot. I can actually tell both elements are lit for a split second when turning the highbeams on/off. Once the one element lights, the other then turns off. There is no momentary "blackout".

It is just so brief on mine, that unless I am waiting and watching to see if it happens, I don't notice it at all.

Just to be absolutely clear in the description: you are not talking from DRL to high beam, but low beam to high beam, right? Some people don't know the difference between DRL and low beam and it's a pet peeve of mine.

It would be kind of hard to notice any "blackout" when pulling the stalk to hit high beams during the day when DRLs are active and not low beams.

Also on the 06 models, headlights are not lit for DRLs, only the ambers.

jx3 is right though. My recently purchased 2006 has the parking lights as the DRL. I like that for some reason. My 1997 lumina had the headlights on for the DRL. Like I said though for some reason I like the parking lights as the DRL I guess just the way it makes it look.

Now the High Beam issue. Since last night coming home from work was the first night I had to drive from work took me a second to figure out the High Beams. I'm so customed to pulling on the stick like in my Lumina to get the High Beams to come on.

When I was finally able to turn them on I did notice a momentary blackout for the High Beams to come on but it isn't something to worry about. Its so quick that when your looking for deer coming accross the road at night you don't notice the blackout portion. Its nothing really to worry about.

Like I said "pet Peeve". Did not know that you pull the stalk for hi beams on 2006, you push the stalk on 2008's, if you pull it's "passing lights flash". And, sometimes we expect the Headlights to come on before the gods of electron beams deem it necessary.;);)
