I'm wondering if I am the only one experiencing this issue with my stock radio/cd (no changer).
The unit has worked flawlessly until about three weeks ago when I tried to insert a disc and it just loaded for about a minute and then ejected and said "disc error". It refuses to play any disc I try most of the time, occasionally it will take it and work fine for a day or so and then it starts rejecting the discs again.
I hope someone has an idea here cause my wife still loves this car, but I'm starting to get a bit fed up with issues pilling up with it.
By the way its an 06' and the radio and XM is still working fine.

Have not had that happen in my HHR but my Monte Carlo would do it from time to time. Unfortunately I dont have a real answer for you. It would eject a couple of times and then take it. Have you tried cleaning it?

 

I read someplace this would happen if a label came off in the player. Don't think any "store bought" cd would be a problem but have you burned your own cd's and stuck on a label that may have come off in the changer ? otherwise the cd changer is at fault which happened to me yrs ago on another vehicle.

 

Has the inside experienced any moisture lately? Mine did this when the weather started changing...dealer replaced it..suspect "eye" was fogged over..if the player cannot read the disc it will reject it...

 

Same here on my 2011 HHR. Today, tried a new Maxell cd player lens cleaner, nope, no change, player even ejected THAT!
