Dome/Rear reading lights

Dome/Rear reading lights
I just wanted to find out if the owners manual is wrong, or if something is wrong with our HHR.
According to the owners manual:
"Push the lens to turn the reading lamps on and off." - This works.
"The reading lamps will turn on when the door is open if the dome lamp is in the door position." The dome lamp is set to the door position, but the reading lights do not come on when the doors are open, only the dome light for the cargo.
"The reading lamps will also turn on with the dome lamp switch in the
on position." When the dome lamp switch in the on position, the reading lamps do not come on (again, only the dome light for the cargo area comes on).
If I push the reading lamps so that they turn on, they stay on all the time irregardless of what the dome lamp is set to.
I am assuming that this is a typo in the owners manual.

lamps will also turn on with the dome lamp switch in the
on position. The lamps will not turn on if the door is
open and the dome lamp is in the off position.

This is an old post that no one responded to. In 2006 HHRs I assume the reading lights for the rear seat only work when the lens is pushed up to turn them off or on. Can someone verify this for me that has a 2006 HHR. I have read the posts about turning the rear dome light around to make it more functional. Thanks for your help.

I have a '06 2lt. My rear seat light, that is, the portion that illuminates just the rear seat only works when the lens (2) is pushed in.
The rear cargo light, the rear half of the light is controlled by the 3 way switch. On, off, or on when a door is opened.
