Car will only drive in reverse.

 

I guess you need a trans shop, unless you know how to get to the solenoids.

Hi everyone. Hoping you can help me... My hhr 09 stopped moving forward. It only goes in reverse. I had it towed to a shop and he put transmission fluid in and it still does not move in drive. 110000 miles on car. There were no symptoms of hard shifting or anything. It's an automatic transmission. No warning signs. No engine lights. Last week I changed a fuse for my power windows in the box in the engine. He told me I need a new transmission of which I cannot afford. Is there anything else it could be like fuses or linkage or anything possible that I should have him check? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Could be the linkage, a solenoid or something internal.

You could look at the linkage and see if it is moving.

All other things are a job for a TRANSMISSION shop. Adding fluid for your symptom is not a cure for anything.

However, even trans shops don't fix trannys anymore. "if it's broke, replace it"

Fuse #43 is for the transmission.

If you managed to touch the TCM with a hot wire that can trash it. That is one of the silver boxes in front of the fuse box, supposed to be under a plastic hood.
