DRL problem

Don't know if anyone knows but are the sensors for the Fobs and the Daytime running lights somehow connected. I noticeed that my lights won't shut off during the day anymore, they started doing it gradually, and about the same time I noticed my Key Fob was getting flaky. Then last week they just quit going out at all and then my fob quit too. I do need to re-solder my fob, my intitial instinct was dead battery so i cracked and the batt clasp came apart easier than the casing, in fact it fell off? but I also linked the two situations and maybe they're unrelated and its all a coincidence, but I work third shift and I'm tired of waking up my whole complex every=time I unlock my door with the key. Coincidentally is there any-way to fix that as well.:red:

Don't really think that the remote and the DRL's are connected. Is there anything on your dashboard that may be covering the light sensor?

As far as unlocking the car, I assume you are doing it the old fashioned way and actually using the key. If you reverse the process and use the key to lock the doors, then the alarm should not sound when you use the key to unlock. Only problem w/ this though is that the alarm does not set at all.

I had to re-solder my battery clasp when it fell out also. Because it is a small delicate job a couple extra hands are helpful to hold the fob, clasp, solder and soldering gun.

You can turn the lights blinkning and the horn chirping on or off thru the DIC which should also tell you if the fob battery is low.

Yeah theres nothing covering my sensor, nothing ever touches my dash and I wiped it with a damp clothe to make sure, as for turning off thru the DIC how do I access thats because if I lock from the outside I only get one door because as soon as i turn the key to the off position all my doors unlock, or can I turn that off as well

Page 3-45 thru 3-49 of the owners manual will help you figure how to "personalize" your preferences.

yeah i noticed a few times my 09 HHR AAANNNNDDD my 97 seville both go nuts when i use the actual key to unlock the doors... when my seville did it i figured it was because the key was possibly a remake and they didnt use the right valued key resistor so the anti-theft kicks in but then in warm weather it doesnt do it all the time :S odd... but the same thing happens on my 09 hhr -- when i use the key the alarm sounds... very odd --- so i figured it was because the mechanism doesnt get used that much due to the key fob remote unlock usage so often that the mechanism gets "stuck" possibly -- i dunno

Here is a thread with links for the online owners manual. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/general-hhr-4/online-owners-manual-3074/
I didn't see anyway to deactivate the alarm through the dicthough. If you take it to the dealer then have them give you a new fob if you are still under warranty they should do it for you (both fobs are needed if you do this). MindDrive are you locking it with your fob then unlocking it with your key? That will cause your alarm to go off.

The alarm will set if you use the door switch as well. The only way the alarm will not set is if you manually lock the doors.

yeah I have mine reset now so it only unlocks my door when i cut the key, I actually prefer it that way, I don't like the fobs to begin with but I'm gonna need to get a new one anyhow when I get my lights checked, I cant see my head unit or DIC in the day, and I refuse to turn up my dash lights because when you hve bright lights in the cabin at night, your vision decreases on the outside
