the heater looks in the picture to bolt to the block just under the exhaust manifold, the cord plugs into the extension , you will need to remove the air filter box.

I am having one installed thursday parts and labor $200.80 at a gm dealer. Aluminum engine block so they use a bolted on heater that attaches to the block. The heater does not go inside the water jacket. It is on passenger side on the engine side away from the radiator, remove air intake cover, then shield for exhaust. One bolt to remove or install. Has extended piece that allow for the 110 volt power to installed. Need mirror to see the spot and is tricky to install according to a mechanic on u tube. He also pointed out that heat radiates to the block and also releases heat under the exhaust shield, warming that area of the engine. Took me a hour or more to find this information earlier today.

 

Welcome to the site, Claude! Sounds like the heater I have on my 2003 2.2 Sunfire, it still works after 13 years and 336,000 kilometres!

 

Lol...a block heater? I had no idea that was even an option. Excuse the ignorance I thought this was more of a diesel concern. It's freezing here never had an issue starting in the cold.

 

It's a rather useless option here to but it was optioned on the car brand new from the factory, it was a dealer trade from Thunder Bay Ontario.
