Engine Replacement problems

Hi all, I'm new, I'm a girl, and I have NO idea what to do. 7 weeks ago I had my car hauled to the shop for repair. I heard a light "knocking" noise coming from the engine, in a mater of 10 miles the rod seemed to be knocking loudest it could possibly have been knocking, my car lost total power on the highway, oile EVERYWHERE.

When I got it to the shop, he identified that the "hydraulic timing chain had exploded" and later found a quarter size hole in my engine.

Since they have replaced the engine, the tachometer is not working, it will not read on their computer, and they say they have replaced EVERYTHING they could think of that would be the problem. I don't know what they have replaced.

Any ideas of what I can ask that they have replaced or any ideas it could possibly be? My car just sits in their shop, it's not going anywhere, and I'm thinking they think if it just sits there it will be fixed.

It's a manual 2.0, it had just under 150,000 miles on it, 2007 model.

Please help the helpless.

Just guessing, they may need to get their hands on a TechII scanner in order to match the engine speed sensor to the ECM. Or, they just didn't hook the wire back up right. They should have access to Mitchell OnDemand or the like where the procedure is explained. You may need a GM shop to do it.

I am just guessing again, have someone show you how to check the oil and coolant levels and then do both at least monthly, so you don't have another blown engine. Somebody neglected that engine.

to the forum!

I moved your thread out into the "Problems" sub-forum for better viewing, and less confusion since there were no 2.0 HHR's until the SS's came out in 2008.

Don nailed it I think, it's either a wiring connection that was missed or left loose, or your mechanic isn't having success matching the engine to the vehicle.
