My 2.4 is trashed. I bought another 2.4 from a salvage yard with 33K miles on it. I am trying to make a list of stuff I should buy before I start this task this coming weekend. Oil, oil filter, 2 gallons coolant, distilled water, new belt. so what am I missing? Once I get started I don't want to make trips to the parts house.

 

I notice by your profile that you have a 2006. Is the motor you bought out of a 2006? The reason that I ask if because the 2006 engines are unique from the rest due to a major revision to the LE5 (2.4) engine, as well as the L61 (2.2) before the 2007 model year began.

 

The coolant capacity is about 2 gallons total. 2 gallons pre mixed will do it, no need for extra water.
