Did anyone try to jumpstart the car? If they did, did they hook the cables up correctly?

Welcome to the site check the connection of the battery cable at the under hood fuse box. It has been known to vibrate loose over time.

Double check the connections at the battery. The clamps on the battery are a bit weird for some people, and some people have found them loose.

Are you sure the new battery is up to snuff with a good charge (even if new)? These cars are very sensitive with low batteries, and can cause all sorts of weirdness if the battery is low.

Also check the fuses under the hood.

You don't know if anyone tried to jumpstart the car after the battery died? If you don't follow the directions the entire electrical system could get fried. Directions can be found in the Owner Manual (SEARCH "owner manuals") and most cars still have the stickers under the hood.

The new battery didn't help what? Is there power to anything, or it just won't turn over. Complete sentences help us understand.

All the lights on the instrument panel light up but when I turn key to start engine the lights go off and the engine doesn't crank. When I release key lights come back on.

Sounds like a bad starter or a bad battery.

Could be a fuse link if the battery was hooked up backwards. We just had a case like that recently
