esc/traction/abs messages,stuck key.
Hi---
New guy here. I really like this site. There is a lot of good info. My wife & I bought our '09 HHR last May. We have really been enjoying it. Sadly though, after only 6 weeks, we began to get esc/traction control/abs error messages. Today, 9/11, we encountered the "stuck key problem" and could not shut the car off. I finally pulled the 50 amp fuse at the negative battery terminal.
Needless to say, I'm now disappointed with the quality that we have experienced with our new Chevy HHR.
I will try to resolve these issues on my own. If not I think we have to go to the dealership. I am hoping things will get better or at least not any worse. We enjoy our little HHR it's still a fun & cool ride.
I read everyone's posts and learn a little something every time I come to this site. So, thanks for sharing your probs and solutions.
p.s. does anyone know how to pull up the diagnostic codes?

yes - you need a code reader that OBDII/CAN compliant. There is no key-jiggling shortcut with the HHR like some cars a few years back.
Ie: something like this http://www.amazon.com/INNOVA-3100-OB.../dp/B000EVWDAK
An alternative is to drop by an Autozone store where they will read the codes for you (hoping to sell you some parts no doubt), but they likely will not clear the codes due to liability reasons or such. To clear the codes yourself, you can disconnect the battery in the trunk for 5 minutes or so.

I had the traction service/abs lights, with only 32k on the clock. Dealer said he could look at it in a couple days. Took it to my regular mechanic, he has a snapon computer, said my left rear speed sensor wasn't reporting. Got my parts place to get the new hub run over to him (the sensor is imbedded in the hub) The hub was making a little noise when turned. Running good now !!
