Factory Mismatched Paint!

Here's a good one for you guys... I've been looking at the left rear door on my HHR for several months, hoping my eyes have decieved me. Nope... The door is a shade darker than the rest of the car.

I finally took the car to the dealership a few days ago to have a service writer confirm this, and to see what exactly I was supposed to do with a mismatched door on my NEW car! I'm not too keen on having a door repainted... I didn't buy a NEW car only to start getting panels repainted...

But - they're farming the paint work out to a local body shop. I feel better about that - most dealership body shops are horrid at best. In any event, see the photos... You'll pick out the mismatched panel quite easily.

That's another two-tone paint jobbie! Not of your choosing though!

Probally a factory repaint. got damaged at the factory and fixed in the factory body shop. Alot of cars get damage at the factory. If it was a dealer transfer it could have been damaged at the previous dealer and repaired there, although I doubt it since it was not blended.

The door shows absolutely NO signs of a repaint... If it was repainted, I'd have to say the entire door (inside and out) was painted. The finish is perfect - it's just the wrong color. I've never seen a finish that nice (factory appearing) from a dealer body shop. No way, no how.

In my mind - it is pretty clear that the rear door was painted with a different batch of panels... Damaged originally or not - I'd say this panel has not been repainted (yet). Higher probability: A damaged door may have been replaced before (or shortly after) it rolled off the line.

Either way - It's annoying, and not what I expect from a new car.

have a nonconformity that both substantially impairs the use , market value or safety of the vehicle and is not repairable by the dealer or manufacturer in at least four attempts for the same repair, or be out of service for a total of 30 or more business days.
