Factory Radio Issues

My 2006 HHR I just bought is having a bit of an issue with the factory radio. While I really do not care about the factory radio as I plan on putting the DVD, NAV, Radio I had in my other HHR in. I am curious to see if others are having or had the following issue.

So, when the radio is on. Rear speakers do not work and the front right speaker in the right side passenger door comes on from time to time and cuts out. Now, I tested the speakers and they work 100%. I am guessing it is a Radio problem with channel controls.

Anyone else have this issue with their factory radio? Thanks!

this sounds like the same issue I had in my previous vehicle...the speaker cut out would get worse in the colder months..mine had to do with bad wiring throughout the vehicle for the speakers, had to re-wire everything. try swapping the deck and see if it still cuts out

You can get one at an auto wrecker I'm sure, but they say the theftlock nonsense can make it tough to install.
I would call the dealer about installing a used radio head unit. Then you can see if its not just worth getting an aftermarket bling stereo.
