I use the blunt end (tip of brush end) of my snow brush to poke in there from time to time and break any ice buildup before it becomes a problem... in fact you reminded me to do it yesterday before I left work.

That would turn to ice so fast and make it worse.

Pour windshield washer fluid on it. That is the only thing that works.

Well I guess GM isn't going to fix the problem if it's been around sincce 07 so I'll have to look in to doing something my self. Maybe there is something that can be done to stop the water from the cowl from running down there.

I like the car but I'm finding it's not a good winter car at all. My Brembos don't stop when there is snow around them I guess they just get too cold and I know they work better warm and I haven't been able to roll down any of my windows for a week, there frozen shut. Next year I'll have it in the garage I guess thats the only fix. Hopefully the garage will be empty by then.

Some '06 had it running to the front passenger floor... ask some of the early members here.

It's something that you'll have to deal with; just keep a wooden poking stick handy. While I agree that it's not the best design, I'm personally more annoyed at the ice buildup on the running boards and in the wheel wells...

I am building a very large microwave oven that I can put my SS into and melt away the ice.

Same problem here, but not gonna waste time taking it to the dealer for a temporary problem.

This concern is being looked at not only for HHR but several other GM platforms. There has been some conversation with other manufacturer's engineers regarding the same issue on some of their bodies. Looks like this could be somewhat of an industry-wide concern. I'll pass on any info I get on this but don't expect any kind of fix.

I have this problem as well but it was really bad over the weekend. I left my SS parked at my office (yes I parted with it) while I was driving my dads Silverado. I had a ton of pellets to install and decided to use it as a grocery getter for a few days.....

Anyway we got about 5 inches of nice fluffy snow, the sun came out and melted it down some and then we got a deep freeze that night. man did it suck monday morning when I needed my car to go see a customer.

I went to the gas station this morning to fill up, and my driver's window would not go down - it was frozen shut! I had to open the door to pay the attendant.
