Front End Noise

Hello everyone. My first post. Heard a lot about this site regarding these lemons. My wife has a 2008 standard trans HHR. 90,000 miles with a 2.2L. There is the normal rattle on the right front that I seem to read about, but there just started this humming noise apparently from the right front also. I rotated the tires and that did not change anything. Don't want to just start throwing bearings and shafts at it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

LEMONS - You will find out most of us love these HHRs. With 90,000 miles things wear out. Especially running on America's roads. And if you travel dirt or gravel roads look out. I never drive on gravel or dirt roads I use my Ford for that....

Good luck with yours anyway. And none of us drive Lemons.

Maybe lemons is to strong. Just seems to be a lot of issues with these things. The car is actually a good car for the price. I really like the handling. Just cant seem to be able to pinpoint the humming sound

Sorry to hear about your wife 2008 Chevrolet HHR. I would like to get involved and do further research concerning this issue. Could you please private message me your name, address, vehicle identification number (VIN), and current mileage.

Thanks,

Wow. First post, first line and you use the word "Lemon". And then you want to ask for advice? Not the way to make friends around here.
We usually give a warm welcome to the new folks and help them out. This time I think..........................

I apologized. Just frustrated with my issue. We bought this one used, so I expect issues. There are just a few things on ours that were covered up for the sale. A buddy of mine has a 2007 and He loves His.

Apology noted.
The hum is probably a wheel bearing. The clunk, well you've read about the different things it could be.
Fact is, 90k miles and things wear out. Doesn't matter the make or model. Things do wear out or break on all of them.

You are not the only one with a lemon,
Mine has been back to the dealer 4 times a month sense new for repairs, the car only has 45,000 miles on it.

As for the noise,
It's more then likely the hub bearing going out, this is a very common issue.
The rattle is either a bad strut mount, or a broke sway bar link, another very common issue.

Went and bought a hub assembly. Seems to have taken the humming noise out. Thanks. Did not sound like a regular bearing noise.

I have two of them "lemons" one needed links at 21k and now my other one started the little rattle deal, I found it amusing that my second one made it to 43k. Replace them with moog greasable ones..50 bucks oh wow.Your wife's might be a record at 90k......

Now if you want to pay more for unexpected repairs, buy a BMW this thing has killed me.
