Unhappy Front wheel bearings

Recently I have developed a hum (grinding) in the front end, when turning right it quiets and left it gets worse. I am sure it is a front wheel bearing. Are these cartridge or individual timkens like the good old days when just the bodies of cars rotted out and not the mechanical parts not lasting. I have also an issue with the windshield washer stalk, when on low speed either it dosen't work or it turns into the intermittent mode.

Wheel bearing units are a complete piece. Has the bearing pre cast into the hub.

So, you can't have one without the other.

Good luck

Before you just do this on your own, depending on the year I believe this may be covered under the 5yr/100k drivetrain warranty..... I think it's '08 and earlier that covers the wheel bearings as "drivetrain"...... Not sure on the year but they did drop the wheel bearings as being covered at some point. If you fall in the covered range it would save you some cash and the hassle of doing the job. Best to check.

As Snoopy said, it's all one piece, hub and bearing...... different hub for ABS and non ABS also.

When my stalk is in the "intermittent" setting set to shortest interval; it goes to slow speed if there is little resistance, i.e. there is real rain vs. mist. Are you sure that you are setting to "low" not "intermittent-high". Don't be offended, but are you sure that you understand the wiper switch positions? Sounds like either there is a mis-understanding or the switch is just broken.

Just to be sure: Push down for 1 swipe. up 1 and adjust interval by twisting for "intermittent". up 1 more low up 1 more medium. It is opposite of other cars I have owned!

Wheelbearings are covered 5/100k - my '07 still under warranty. Don't pay for it.

covered 2007, 2008, 2009 only

2006 - no power train warranty
2010,2011 - hub bearings eliminated from the new, "improved" coverage

Having had two wheel bearings replaced under warranty, I'm not surprised that GM shifted the expense of these predictably-failing components to the consumer!

two front and two rear

If you had your first wheel bearing fail at 105,000 miles and are at 150K now, consider yourself lucky! There are three more to fail where that one came from!

In February I bought my 2007 2LT from a Subaru dealer. It had the same hum. Drove it off the Subaru lot and right to the Chevy dealer to make an appointment. They replaced it under warranty and I had owned the car for less than 48 hours.
