That does sound low. The 06 2.4 I just got was getting 32 on the highway on a trip i made yesterday and its got 160000 miles on it. Check your tire pressure too. Good luck with it

My 06 2.4 has 232,000 miles and my average after the weekend is normally dropped to around 25.5. after a week of my commute it goes up closer to 27, like about 26.8. I do not hyper mill the car, pass when I need to, and adjust speed when needed, as I am not a right lane hugger. I do 34 miles a day for my commute each way, but its not all highway, have some lights to stop at. I was also starting to wonder what was going on with my mileage so I monitored with my scan tool and steady cruising at around 60 I am getting well over 30 MPG, so it just must be me. Set a trip, and monitor how many miles you can get out of a tank, say 12 gallons or so (get her down to 1/4 full) then divide your trip mileage by 12 to see your average. I dont really trust the "average MPG" display. At highway speeds you get SLIGHTLY better mileage with 93 octane in the 2.4, but with the huge price difference it isnt worth it.

The car's "sweet spot", what it was designed to meet CAFE standards is 55 miles per hour. Mileage will drop off radically over this speed. The 23 miles per gallon is still low but don't expect 30 mpg at 70 miles per hour.

(maybe coasting downhill at 70 with a tailwind could get you 30 mpg... Otherwise, no)

I don't know, granted mine was the 2.2, but I could easily get 30 running upper 70's. At 55 I could get upper 30's.

I just got back home driving from Gainesville to my home in the Ocala National Forest on secondary roads at about 60 mph and averaged 36.5 mpg. I had just changed the plugs and air filter this morning and fixed a broken cold air intake tube.

Question: Do worn fuel injectors affect gas mileage and after how many miles should injectors be replaced. My 2.4 has 160 thousand miles on it

Worn or dirty injectors can effect fuel mileage, I replaced mine last summer at 235,000 miles

Interesting.
I lived in the forest too back in the early 71s, just a bit east of Paisley off of 42.
And you?

We are on the West edge if the Forest off Hwy 40. Our backyard backs up to the Forest boundary
