Gas station pump keeps stopping.

When I fill my 08 HHR at the gas station the station gas pump keeps cutting off, as if the tank were full, but it isnt.
It has always done that even when new, I'd just back the nozzle out a bit. But lately no matter what I do the gas station pump keeps stopping. Different brands, different stations, makes no difference.
Anyone else have this issue?
I've read elsewhere that a vent hose for the fuel tank or EVAP system could be clogged. But it's done that since new, just more lately.
Dont have any dash warning lights on.

Any idea where the vent hose might be? Maybe I could check it.

I have an '08, 2.4, 2LT Panel and I don't have that problem.

I did on my 2000 Astro tho, sucked having to play games with the gas nozzle to fill 24 gallons the whole time filling.

My '09 does the same thing at one particular station. I just have to hold the lever. I can't set-it-and-forget-it.

My 2007 HHR does the same thing as well, just not all the time. I think it has to do with the angle you stick the nozzle into your gas tank.

This has happened to my HHR and other cars that I have owned. I usually just back out the nozzle slightly and then its fine. But never bad enough that i would worry about.

Check that the vent line does not have a kink in it anywhere...your not getting enough air...

X2.

Certain gas pumps will be the cause of this, but if different pumps do it and or different gas stations, that's a problem.

My HHR does not do this, but the truck does. It's the angle that the filler neck is with the pump...too much angle so the pump shuts off because it's hitting. If I back it out it's fine.
