general quality stuff

since getting my 2008 SS with 6 months of prev owner and 7500 miles on it
I have been doin the prev, maint stuff.

While changing oil I found loose components in engine bay ( thing in front of breakers) coolant level empty in overflow tank and front wheel torqued to about 150+ ft pounds. I only wish either the original dealer or GM's plant QC could have caught some of the defects!

to be fair it might have happened since build in may 2008. but i doubt it

Maybe the dealership you bought it off did some of these things when checking the vehicle before putting it up for resale. They do take off the wheels to check the brakes.

I agree....your talking about fluid levels and parts that could have been easily worked on/lowered/evaporated off by at least two dealerships and one previous owner or more.

I'm not defending GM, but the items you mention are not "quality" issues with rolling something off the assembly line. Now if you said the lifters/rockers/etc were not torq'd correctly or made of cheap materials, paint didn't match, seats were not bolted properly during assembly.....then we are talking Q/C from the manufacturer.

I think your complaint is more toward the last dealer that sold you the vehicle or the seller, if by private owner. Just the other day I saw a van with a for sale sign on it....and the driver side fender was duct-taped on, with tape running along the outside, from end-to-end!

None of this are Factory issues, it is used car dealer prep that is at fault here.

My buddy bought a repo once. When he bought it at an action it had every fuse, bulb and knob removed. They knew they were coming for it and removed anything that did not take a tool.

You have got to love it.

Did you purchase from an auction or financial institution?

my local credit union has a recovery lot, take yer choice ....I saw Porsche, MB, BMW and my lovely HHR. Plus it is a 4% or less note if your interested. The stock has changed over the years as you now see cars with 4 to 6 months or less of use.

I'm sure the credit union did nothing more than repo it and park it. So that rules out a used car prep department being responsible.
