great car update!

Just got the HHR back from the dealership, service airbag light on!!! Cost to me $555.55. Thats over $2,000.00 for repairs on a 3.5 year old car! Lets get real. These cars are lemons and should have been bought back by the great GM! I have owned many other cars by other manufacturers both american and foreign and have put more than 60,000 miles on them in 3 years and none of them have cost me as much to keep on the road as this one. What a joke for a great car!

Mine's 6 years old and I've spent maybe half what you've spent on repairs. I might have spent that much so far on the wifes 03 Mazda.

Parts can break on any car at any time. My neighbor finally got tired of her 08 Caliber breaking down and traded it on a 12 Jeep Patriot.....

Well I'll just be blunt:

"These" cars are not lemons as you stated.

"Your's" apparently is.

Don't lump the rest of us in your group just because your car is having issues.

So sell it. If you hate it that much why do you hang onto it? Get rid of it, and be happy.

Note to self : Dont feel it's ok to rant on this board about the ongoing problems you're having with your HHR. - Thanks Self!

It's okay to talk about your ongoing problems but don't bash the vehicle that is the subject vehicle of the site. That's quite likely to illicit the types of responses we're beginning to see in this thread. These cars are not lemons as stated above. Other than brakes and tires, I've spent less than $300 or repairs in the nearly 6 years we've owned it. Not everyone has been through what you have with theirs. From reading a couple of your other posts, I've surmised that you bought the vehicle used. A previous owner or owners treatment of a vehicle can have a profound effect on problems that a future owner might incur. You can't really lay that on Chevrolet or GM.

Maybe not a lemon but THIS PARTICULAR HHR, not everyone's, not most folks, not, not, not............

I have a list of problems as long as my arm that GM and the Dealer simply will not address. Day one rattles, Day one crappy gas mileage, Trans bucking issues that were documented and ignored, Day one hatch rattles. it's wonderful to have to blast the radio, crank up the blower, open the sunroof, make SURE nothing is in the car that will make noise just so I can drive it. Ive left the car at the dealer for a week just so they could take their time and handle it. Got it back with the famous no problem found.

Love looking at the car - HATE driving it - 43k miles and it's sat in my driveway for the last week with a failed Thermostat. Yea, sure its an easy fix. Probably under warranty too. Buyer's remorse? - Dont get me started. It's paid for and I cannot wait to replace it with something GM doesnt have a hand in. (save me from all the GM loyalists, this is my rant)

So yea, sure - Im one of the 'few' that's had problems? lmfao on that one. For those that desire to be buried in their's - my hat's off to you. Enjoy that thing!

I have never had any bad issues with the dealership I use. They are wonderful. My 08 Silverado started showing signs of abnormal tire wear at 1500 miles. Stopped in, and the writer asked me if I had a half hour. I did, and they aligned it and I was on my way. Fixed. My 09 HHR had an issue of the outside mirror chipping from the back side Kinda like an old mirror where the mirror side flakes off from age. Part ordered, called two days later stopped in, and it was installed. Fixed. Then the drivers door lock pull coming through the top of the door panel was getting jammed up in the door panel. The writer asked me if I had a half hour. Fixed. All under warranty.
Warranty jobs do not pay as well as flat rate, but a good dealership will recognize an opportunity to make a customer for life from warranty to beyond warranty if they get their customer service correct the first time a customer walks through the door. It just really sounds like bad dealer service, not GM. A good service writer/manager can pull strings, and will findd a way to make it happen, even if there is no pay. And does this work? You bet. My wife and I take our car to that dealership for everything we can't or won't do in the driveway. Customers for life.

Don't get me wrong. If I said how I really felt about the HHR I might get kicked off the site. Not a front wheel drive/4 cyl vehicle fan. It's my wifes back and forth to work vehicle. As soon as the HHR outlives it's usefulness, it's gone. She's retiring in January. But it's done everything we've asked of it and it hasn't been problematic. If I was going to be buried in a vehicle, it would be something like a 68 GTO or a 67-69 435hp/427 Corvette.
