As one might imagine, we've had the opportunity, via thousands of customers over two decades, as well as our own rigorous in-house product development and racing, to come in contact with the effects of almost every brand of oil available.

My recommended list is as follows:
Anything from a MAJOR manufacturer.

Examples include, but are not limited to:
Castrol
Valvoline
Shell
Mobil
Elf

I can't get the link to work either...
Is this a link for the Ecotech in general, or the SS 2.0?
Doesn't the SS require synthetic oil?

The list is not all inclusive. There may be many oils that meet or exceed GM's specs that simply were not tested. Royal Purple, Amsoil, RedLine, none were tested by GM, but NOT being tested does not mean they DO NOT meet or exceed GM's standards. Big argument all the time, but ironically Amsoil was the first to develop the very oil that is not include in the GM specs. Nice! Use someone elses R & D, then assign your own spec to extort your vendors.

Anybody know what GM vehicles/engines beside the 2.0 LNF that require this oil spec?

12,000 miles! Thats a bit too far if you want to keep your HHR healthy.
I don't care what the oil life message says; Your oil will be black and filthy at 6,000 miles, and dirty oil is a killer. The oil filter cant handle over 6K, that's the problem. and use a made in USA Purolater oil filter, not a Chinese cheapo.

I use only Castrol Syntec 5-30 all synthetic oil.
Just because an oil made the list of "acceptable" oils does not mean it's the best, only adequate, I think more of my HHR.

Hate to burst your bubble but Purolator filters is part of Bosch and the filters might not be made in the USA.

Baldwin is probably the only filter company making their filters in the USA but their prices are higher and few places sell them. Baldwin might even buy from other suppliers.

I don't like the miniature filters GM is using nowadays. It means you need to change filter more often and buy a filter that can hold more debris. With fuel injection, there isn't as much contamination and synthetic doesn't break down as soon but I don't believe in going over 5,000 miles on it.
