HARD 1-2-3-od shift

NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

So today on the way to work (9 miles) I had an odd happening. First 4-5 miles everything is fine. Come to a redlight, and the light turns green...BAM (violent) into 2nd, BAM into 3rd..BAM into OD...come to the next red light. Happens again, just as violent. I pull over and put it into neutral..BAM. Shift it into reverse BAM...Park..BAM.

Leave the store, bangs through all the gears again.

Next redlight, runs like a top. Won't do it anymore. Leave work tonight, same thing, no banging shifts.

What the hell?

A/c on, which is kind of rare. I tried it with the a/c off as well, turned the ac and radio off so I could hear it.

I don't know how helpful this may be but I had a 2000 Acura 3.2TL that did the same things as the transmission was going out. I change the transmission fluid and it helped for a bit but ultimately it was shot. I'd take the HHR into the dealer asap to get it checked out. Good luck!!

Judge..... Was the T/C light on while it was doing this? Any check engine light? You could have been in "limp mode" .......... If/When it happens again see if you can have an autoparts store scan for some codes.

I don't have TC, nor ABS. No engine light and I work at a store, no code. Just in case I missed it I scanned it anyway, nothing in the history.

Same thing happened to my H a while back. Driving late at night, approaching a red light that I know to be quite a lengthy one, popped her in N at killed the ignition for the last eighth mile. After sitting for a few minutes, light goes green and the H can only lurch through the gears. Fortunately, I was only a very short distance from home, turned her off for a few and then tried taking her for a ride around the block to see if turning off/on would've helped, but no luck. Decided a dealer visit was in order in the A.M. Morning came, started her up, dropped into gear, and to my surprise, no lurching, just smooth shifting. Had no repeats of this since then.

No codes where thrown, and no warning lights lit.

If its an 07 it has traction control.... When I first got my 06 it was doing the same thing on and off and the t/c light came on as well.... took it to the dealer and they serviced it and all was well... didn't ask the problem and now the dealer is gone... If no light is coming on I would recommend checking the fuses and relays...

Hey, man.

One of your sensors misbehave.
I had this problem when died my crankshaft sensor.
I had such a problem when replacing the air filter. At this time I forgot to connect the flow meter of air.
In both cases the light "check engine" not joined at once.

Check the air flow sensor - the first place. It is easily accessible. Just disable and enable.

In addition, the possible crash of transmission program - reboot (disconnect the battery for 10 minutes), re-programming in a pinch. Reprogramming "HHR transmission" in Russia fast and not expensive, I'm sure - in the United States this procedure is as easy as piss in palm.

Out of curiosity, this transmission 4t40e correct? Same thing that is in the cobalts? Just in case I want to pick up a spare one to have around.
