Heater Blend Door Broken

Alright, so I was having some issues controlling the climate a couple winters ago and this winter it stopped all together. After trying to replace the blend door actuator it became apparent that the plastic end that fits inside the actuator has broken off. I was hoping that someone might have a step by step on how to replace the blend door before I go purchasing the part. Thanks for your time.

I'm in the same boat with my HHR. The hot/cold air blend door has broken off where it engages the actuator motor. I'm guessing that I will need to replace the entire upper HVAC case as gmpartsdirect indicates that the blend doors are included in the case and not sold individually.

Anybody know if there is a "how to" available for replacing the upper case? I couldn't find one with a search of this site.

Do you mean that you didn't feel like reading any of the 92 results from "blend door"? Or you did read through them and decided they don't help?

Actually, I read them all, but I haven't seen anything regarding replacing the entire upper casing of the HVAC unit. I was just looking for anybody that had removed the dash to replace the upper case, and any help. i know that it looks like I am a newbie, but I was previously registered under the username rforsland. I tried to reset my password a couple of months ago, but i never received an email after requesting the reset...so i opened a new account. I always research the posts before asking a question....

The way it was worded just made me wonder which it was.

The best I have to offer is the same diagrams in a couple of those threads.

No worries...I broke down and finally ordered a set of shop manuals....only 7 years and 150k miles later...The car has been pretty trouble free. This is the first thing that broke that I needed their help.

Here is something to ponder.

The 2006 equinox has a problem with the blend air door breaking.

Gm covers them under warranty. I just had my daughters car repaired.

Dorman makes a repair kit to fix the door without removing the heater box. I wonder if the kit will work on the hhr.

Because gm is covering the equinox repair the hhr repair may be covered in the future so keep your receipts.
