Help with broken door lock

Hi guys,

I decided to paint my door handles flat black and followed the nice how-to on

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/removing-re-installing-exterior-door-handles-44974/

Problem is I managed to break the black plastic lever that the handle attaches to. In the post above, it is the part you stick you finger in and pull to unlock the door with no handles. I cannot located the part on any parts diagrams.

It looks like it is part of the plastic housing inside the door.

Any thought?

Thanks,

Leo

Here's a parts blow up of the door(front pictured), and it looks like you'll need to replace the latch assembly in its entirety.

Thanks!

I think I can get away with part #30, the lock housing. Is RH, the passenger side or driver side? (I know, silly question...)

Yup, that's for the right side, on some odd occasions GM does do things logically.

Do a Google search on the part number, you can save some cash over going to your dealer's parts department, if you can live with semi functional door for a few days.

Ha. I am being extra dense...

RH = passenger side
LH = drivers side

Is that correct?

Yes that's correct.

Don't feel bad, just found my missing pair of reading glasses in the refrigerator.

I once had house keys which went missing for 2 days in a freezer. Don't ask :)

Thanks for the help. I will take a quick trip to he chevy dealer tomorrow and see what they say. For now, I will have to climb through the passenger door....

Cheers,

Leo

Problem solved. I replaced the plastic housing from inside the door (35 bucks at the dealer) and the lock works again.

What is the name of the retaining pin number 19 on this diagram? Or where can I find the names online?
