Unhappy Help! Water leak

I have read dozens of posts about the EVAP problem. I have done everything, replaced the resistor, blower motor, butyl patch, sucked out and blown out the tube and I still am getting water on the passenger floor. I can hear water sloshing when I turn. My son thinks the heater core may be gone. Anything else I can do or check? I have a 2007 HHR I got in Feb. 2007

What does it have to do with EVAP? That has to do with fuel vapor from the gas tank.

Have you ever checked the coolant level? If the heater core is leaking the coolant would be draining.

My suggestion is to stop trying to diagnose and fix it yourself if don't understand how it works.

HHRGranny- 'Generally" if your heater core is leaking inside, you should smell the anti-freeze. Plus wiping it up with a white rag would get an orange/pink tint to it..(the color of Dexcool antifreeze).

Just an fyi.

x2, plus once the liquid in the heater core heats up and you turn on the fan, you will likely see what looks like "smoke" coming out of the air vents on the dash, and your windows will develop a weird film. The "smoke" has a weird smell as well - as it is heated coolant that has turned to steam (or close to it).

I don't have a smell and the liquid is clear. I did get what looked like smoke come out of the vents once as well as it sprayed a few drops of water. I have also noticed that unlike other vehicles that will have water under the car after you shut it off and it sits, mine doesn't. The tube at the firewall has been blown and/or sucked out 3 or 4 times and that fix usually works for a day or two.
Oh yeah, donbrew, maybe I used the wrong term but it boils down to the evaporation tube for the ac. I came here to get help, not to be insulted. Your statement "My suggestion is to stop trying to diagnose and fix it yourself if don't understand how it works." is exactly that. I am not a dumb blonde woman, I just replaced the motor and tranny on this car and I do know how to troubleshoot problems and use tools. I have had other issues with this car and have found solutions here. Searching on here increases knowledge and enables people to fix things rather than pay out the rear to a dealership. I have seen many helpful posts on here and seen a lot of your posts that don't give solutions. As a moderator, I would expect more.

Water leak

I would say your water leak is actually A/C condensation spilling over from the tray rather than draining thru the hose. Blowing out the hose only drained the tray and it takes a day or so for it to fill up again. Drain tubes are NOT easy to get to. Master of understatement ain't I? Actually your problem may be in the tray. It's a warm, dark and damp place for "things" to grow. Blowing the tube out only moves stuff away from the drain but then rolls back over the hole to plug it. Introducing some mold killer of choice into the tray and flushing may be the answer. Careful you don't bleach the carpet.

HHRGranny - In defence of Donbrew, you did use the term EVAP in your original posting, which most people would assume you mean the Evaporative Emission system, which of course has nothing to do with the current issues you are having. And when one uses the wrong terms, others have to assume that the person's knowledge/experience is limited. We aren't mind-readers, and can only go with the info given.

With the added info in the first few sentences of your last post, 33willys is probably pointing you in the right direction. Give that a checkout, and see if that is the solution.

At the risk of insulting anyone, there is a product made to clean the EVAPORATOR core and the drain tray of mold and other growths.
Which has nothing to do with the evaporative emissions control system (EVAP). No, it does not boil down to the same thing. Words have specific meanings.

When you say "my son says..." with no reasoning behind it my assumption is that YOU don't know how it works.

I have no idea what sex you May be, much less the color of your hair. I don't know how either bit of information would have any bearing in this discussion.

Interesting.......... if we give some pretty technical details on a mechanical repair, we get blasted cause the person has no tools, nor has much experience with their vehicle other than pointing it in the right direction.

If we give some low-level diagnostic suggestions, as the person has not provided much in the way of details/uses the wrong terms/leaves out a lot of the diagnostics that have already been done etc. - we get blasted.

It's the internet people - it's just a written format here - misinformation and misunderstandings will happen.
