hhr blower fan

My 2011 hhr , the inside fan has developed a problem , when i start the car the fan won't work then after I start driving the fan will start working, then it stays working then after I turn the car off and park and start the car again sometimes but not all the time the fan won't work till I drive for awhile .

check your fuses or relay.

donbrew 07-31-2017 10:34 AM

Is it making any noise? Have you checked the cabin air filter (directions in your Owner Manual)(Owner Manual available thru the link in my sig).

Hi,thank you I have checked the fuses all seem okay , where is the relay located? Thanks for your help .

Relay #30, interior fuse block. Just for clarity, you've checked fuses #10 and #16 in the interior fuse block. And fuses #9(diode) and #22 underhood? It's probably not the underhood items, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Greybeard999 07-31-2017 12:28 PM

The fact that it does run after he drives it for awhile would pretty much rule out fuses as being the problem. Wouldn't it?

RJ_RS_SS_350 07-31-2017 12:54 PM

They could be loose.

donbrew 07-31-2017 02:50 PM

My extra long sight says it must be the fan motor dying. Sounds exactly like when one of my floor fans decides it needed to be lubricated 3,000 hours ago.

Oldblue 07-31-2017 03:37 PM

It's bored likes to go for a drive before it perks up. After you have inspected all connections, fuses , grounds. Check for voltage at the fan connection, but I'm think replacement of the fan motor is eminent.

firemangeorge 07-31-2017 04:23 PM

My bet is a dying fan motor. Drive it far enough until you hit a bump in the road that gets it spinning.
You could try starting the car again and if the fan doesn't come on, reach under the dash and tap the motor housing with a wrench or something. That may tell you if the motor is sticking or not.

No. Most parts stores can get them. eBay. Amazon etc. For instance: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Depo-335-580...tZY4LR&vxp=mtr

What's wrong with GM part? Many of the vendors on eBay are in fact GM dealerships.

No - just keep your posts on this subject in this thread.

The one I quoted (hey I changed the relay fan still wont work) I merged into this thread. You had originally opened a new separate thread from this one and posted it there.

My 09 is doing the same

My 09 LS panel is doing the same thing. It is not the fan motor, it is not the resistor, it is not the #4 fuse in the fuse box. The relay is on the BCM. The BCM is behind or under the radio. I need to open the center console to get/find the BCM, so I,m looking for a post on how to get to the bcm/radio area. Working on it.

found two posts that may relate some as to what I'm talking about

It could be the control panel.

illustrations are in your Owner Manual. The BCM is the inside fuse box on the passenger side.

Online Owner Manual available through a link in my sig.
