HHR Imobilized...HELP HELP HELP
I have an HHR that I am installing a remote start in. It is a manual trans and I disconneted the clutch and I'm getting the code/s:
P0808
P0807
I can clear the code with the swtich unplugged but when I reattach it I get the P0808 again.
HELP
my number if you can call 608-449-0412

Those codes translate as follows...
P0807 Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
P0808 Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Sensor Circuit High Voltage
By disconnecting the clutch, you have told the the HHR that there is a problem with the clutch sensor and the BCM will not let the starter engage as a safety feature. That's the reason why the factory AP3 remote start was never offered with the 5-speed transmission, if the vehicle is in gear when the starter engages....well its goodbye HHR.
Call the manufacturer of the kit and see if they can offer a solution to the problem, but until you reconnect the clutch sensor, the vehicle will remain immobilized I'm afraid.

You sent me a message and asked me to help in this thread. I can't help you. I would never advise someone to put a remote start on a standard transmision vehicle. This can be done, but I won't give advice on doing it.
If it won't start then the remote system is doing so disconnect it.
What 843de suggested is your only option. Plug it back in. Clear the codes with a scanner or by battery disconnect and call the manufacturer.

All,
I figured out the problem. The technical document I was using was incorrect. The clutch on newer GM vehicles is resistance based vs an open or closed circuit to ground. On the HHR the clutch can be bypassed by the green wire at -180 ohms.
Remote starts on completely safe on standard transmission vehicles. The new remote starts by Directed Electronics and Compustar have a sequence that you have to follow to ensure the vehicle is not left in gear.
Thank you all for responding!

Glad you figured it out and that it works for you. Make sure the rear brakes are adjusted on a regular basis since the "self adjustors" on HHR's don't work well if at all. Relying on the parking brake only could prove problematic if the brakes are not snugged up properly, you don't want the vehicle "sneaking" off on you.
Hopefully the remote start kit people thought of that, or SpaceCowboy remembers to kick the clutch in when starting it if he left it in gear.
You only have to forget once, I did with my Camaro many years ago, its amazing how a starter motor can make a car hop 20 feet backwards in one big bounce!

How it works:
Activating Reservation Mode
STEP 1: While the vehicle is running, place the transmission in neutral, set the emergency / parking
brake, and remove pressure from the foot brake.
STEP 2: Remove the key from the vehicle’s ignition. The vehicle’s engine should remain running even
after the key has been removed. If the vehicle does not remain running visit your local authorized
CompuStar dealer for service.
STEP 3: Exit the vehicle and close the door. The vehicle’s engine should shut off within 10 seconds
upon closing the last door. If the vehicle’s engine does not shut off, your door trigger may be functioning
improperly. Do not use the remote-start feature and take your vehicle to a local authorized CompuStar
dealer for service.
Once the vehicle shuts off your system is in reservation mode and the vehicle is ready to
safely remote start. When in reservation mode, a start availability icon will be displayed on
the remote LCD
IMPORTANT: By default, the system will lock/arm the vehicle upon setting reservation mode. Take care
to not lock your keys inside the vehicle.
Cancelling Reservation Mode
Reservation mode will be cancelled for the following reasons;
• You did not activate the parking brake prior to turning off the ignition.
• You pressed the foot brake after the key was removed from the ignition.
• You released the parking brake after the key was removed from the ignition.
• You entered valet mode, opened the vehicles door, hood, trunk or set off the alarm.
