HHR SS power steering issue

I’ve been without power steering on my 08 ss for almost a year now. The steering angle sensor went on it and is internal to the motor I believe on the ss. I haven’t had luck with anyone parting one out in my area during this time (at least on marketplace) and I don’t trust a junkyard to pull one and send it to me without it getting damaged. Anyone here wire in a steering angle sensor externally and attach it somewhere on the column? Or has anyone swapped in a regular HHR epas system? Any info is appreciated

Have you looked at the fuses? #19 on th BCM, #2 under hood.
Why don't you trust junkyards, they do it for a living?
The steering angle sensor is internal to the column, not the motor.
The SS sensor is different from LS./LT.
Do you have a C0545 00 code? That would be for the torque sensor, not the angle sensor.
Here is a pdf of the testing procedure:

Thanks. Some stuff to look into. I don’t trust the junkyards because if was turned too much it can break the sensor. (Just going off what I’ve seen from people claiming to have broken it while doing the steering shaft. Internal to shaft as in not replaceable separate correct. I will have to look at the fuse and code again. I just remember the sensor reading zero no matter what and I didn’t know it was fused. Thank you

I think it is the clockspring that can break from turning, the sensor would need calibrating anyway.
Go to a U-pull?

I have a scanner that I can calibrate it. It would be great if it was internal to the clock spring I just am not sure that’s where it is. I routinely check yards around me to no avail

It’s at the brake pedal end of the column

I meant the point of failure from spinning the wheel is the clockspring, not the sensor.

Former SS owner. Pretty sure the steering position sensor on the SS is located below the power steering motor.
The bottom of the steering column. Right at the intermediate shaft coupling.
Google it and look at some pictures.
