High mount stop light won't turn off. Any idea what could be an issue?

donbrew 03-13-2020 04:39 PM

L.e.d?
It is on a separate relay, maybe stuck?

RJ_RS_SS_350 03-13-2020 04:41 PM

Are the other brake lights on or off?

slonny 03-13-2020 04:46 PM

These are regular, not led.
The other ones are off.

I tried checking fuses, but couldn't locate the right one.

It's probably wiring damage, but check the relays and such first. Wiring takes a lot of patience.

Are you the original owner? Have you looked at the bulbs, to see if they are incandescent or LED?

donbrew 03-13-2020 07:35 PM

Look for a small box mounted on the driver side wheel well in the engine compartment. The relay is in there.

Number 3

The lights are not LED lights.

Thanks for helping me locate that hidden box. I took the relay out and that turned the light off for now. I will order another one and see how it works out.

Thanks, everyone.

Are there any other options besides the NAPA AR606 relay?

donbrew 03-13-2020 08:55 PM

Any relay that fits. They are pretty much generic.

slonny 03-13-2020 09:35 PM

Just got this one from AutoZone (https://m.autozone.com/electrical-an...4405_8960?aqs=). Everything works as it should. Thanks.

Glad it's fixed. Good call donbrew.

Fireman George had mentioned a link to the location earlier in the thread also, line #5.

In post #2 , Donbrew points towards relay.

I think you should look again.
I looked and I don't see it.

this , it’s on a separate relay.

donbrew 03-14-2020 12:33 PM

Just keep it going:

It is on a separate relay, maybe stuck?
But, does anyone really care just what time it is? (Chicago)

Oldblue 03-14-2020 12:34 PM

No the issue has been resolved, so let’s close this.
