Horn blasts on its own unexpectedly

Horn will blow while turning or in reverse. Not an alarm, but a solid blast. A couple times, it went for about about a minute, then stopped on it's own. Pulled the fuse and relay for now. Could one be going bad?

Had the Signal Arm replaced. Using aftermarket fob.

Welcome to the site, it could be the horn is toast, it could be the clock spring, it could be the fuse box halves loose.

After market fob implies after market anti-theft system, if so that is a problem for whoever installed it.

No, original fob broke and I didn't buy an OEM one. It was programmed at the dealership. It was working fine, I don't think the horn issue is related to it unless it was triggering the alarm system.

Could be the horn ring is worn. That is under the airbag, maybe the airbag mount is broken allowing the switch to make contact. Only other thing I can think of is a very odd fault in the horn relay.

Looking at the symptoms of a bad clock spring in the steering/airbag assembly, including a rubbing sound occasionally when turning, I think that's the culprit. Thanks for all the great feedback.

No need to pay anyone to do it if you have a screwdriver and some sort of ice pick thingy. Just pull the airbg fuse 30 minutes before you start work. This how to shows how to get to it. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...ng-wheel-1912/
