I am sure it has been asked a 1000 times,
As George said, on automatics there is a switch, but I will elaborate a bit as this seems to be the issue. If you turn on your car with the remote start and open the hood, your car will shut off. You will then no longer be able to use your remote to start the car (the lights will just flash, as you said, but nothing will happen). The remedy to this is starting the car with your key. You should then be able to use your remote normally.
It may be the remote start is stuck in valet mode.
I can press and hold the door lock and then press the remote start and it will start.
I have been in the personal d.i.c mode, and the valet mode is turned off.
So now i just need to figure out how to fix this issue.

It sounds to me like it is your FOB. The contacts may be worn enough to cause that issue.. Do you by chance have a Spare FOB? If so try that one......Please post what you find! Thanks
Oh yea WELCOME to the site!

I have another fob, but its shot.
It stopped working properly over a year ago. it locks/unlocks the door's, but doesn't work the remote start.
If the fob was bad, it wouldn't actually engage the remote starter.
When i go through the normal motion's, ie............ press the door lock button then the start, the lights blink three times and the horn honks three times.
When i press and hold the lock button, and then press the start button it works.
Thanks for the welcome.

From your other postings, it's sounds like you've checked most things. Just posting this up in case you missed something.
The remote vehicle start feature will not operate if:
• The remote start system is disabled through
the DIC.
• The vehicle’s key is in the ignition.
• The vehicle’s hood is open
• The hazard warning flashers are on.
• There is an emission control system malfunction.
See Malfunction Indicator Lamp on page 4-35.
• The engine coolant temperature is too high.
• The oil pressure is low.
• Two remote vehicle starts have already been
provided.

Yeah, been down the list a couple times now.
Just don't understand why pushing the remote start button while holding the door lock button down works, but it doesn't work the normal way.
I have no idea if the oil pressure is low because it has no gauge. it only shows oil life. the oil is full, so i at least know there is enough oil in the engine.

In 5 years I had 2 stop working and just ordered new ones, 1 of those lasted 2 months but they did send me a replacement, but had to pay it programend. I hated haveing to use the key, maybe I may have to order a spare? next month will do.
Ok, let me try this again.
Lock button, push and doors lock, check.
Unlock button, push and door's unlock, check.
Remote start, push lock button then push start button, check.
But, when doing the last step i typed, the light's blink three times and the horn honks three times and does not start. key fob sent signal, but remote start did not work, only blinked lights and honked horn.
Now, when holding down the door lock button at the same time pushing the start button, the car starts.
All four buttons on the fob work, when each button is pushed the car responds.
The only way now to get the remote start to work is by holding down the lock button and pushing the remote start at the same time.
Before, you pushed the lock button then pushed the start button.
