I need help. p0442

p0442 just came on a week ago. idles about 100-200 more than usual and obnoxious rasp ONLY when accelerating. not in netural not in park. hoses in engine bay look fine. its not the gas cap. any input is appreciated I dont wanna spend hundeds for a easy fix

The code you have is saying that there is a leak detected in the evap system.

Could be a leaking or loose gas cap, leaking vent valve or purge valve, or any other leak in the hoses or fuel tank.

Most common are the gas cap and or the vent valve.

The noise that you mention could be a exhaust flex pipe leaking.

checked gas cap and all looks well so ill be checking the evap canister area and hopefully somethings just loose. and ill look into the flex pipe thank you

The flex pipe will also cause the code!

I can confirm the flex pipe makes a terrible sound when busted. Mine was replaced under emissions warranty. Thought with yours being an 06, I doubt yours could be.

My work computer won't let me access GMPartsdirect.com but you could go there and do a parts search for the flex pipe and see what it will cost for your specific vehicle.
