I see a future Problem with the HHR Rear Hatch

The button used to open it will get worn out. Anyone already have this problem?

No. The same type of button is used for Corvette doors I believe. Why would there be a problem?

It is a very common and reliable part used on several GM vehicles now and more in the future.

I know not only GM but others use electric latch releases for tail gates, but why no mechanical override? If your battery goes completely dead, you would have no way to even get to the battery to change it, without putting a charger on the contact points up front. Just seems silly to me, to have done it that way.

On my 07, despite what the manual says, there is no mechanical override. I had the service manager at the local Chevy dealer look with me, and he walked away scratching his head. The plug is there, but once removed nothing inside that will let you open the tailgate.

I'm sure all the years have it, maybe the dealer didn't look hard enough?
Either that or they had siesta that day and forgot to install it?

Angie/Afs9's "August HHR of the Month " is an 07. Last year at the Road Kings Show they had to access the override after forgetting to reconnect the harness for the liftgate switch after doing a Rear wiper mod.
