Interior light questions for 2008 HHR

Why does only the back half of the cargo light come on when the doors are opened? I realize that the front ones have push button on/off, but so does my '99 Blazer and the lights come on when you open the doors. Also the window switches and shift selector are not lit up at night. This is a little discouraging when driving at night. I spoke to a coworker who has a 2006 HHR, and he has a led in the ceiling that illuminates the shifter and window switches at night.

My 08 and all HHR's have that LED. Your's must be on the blink (no pun intended) Better get the dealer to fix it.

does your drive selector light up at night? Mine does not. Again, a coworker told me that hers lights up, and she can see P R N D... I can't see anything at night.
